Blog software these days can be used to publish content quickly. Plug-ins offer a horde of automatic enhancements like translations or site maps which aid in search engine optimization. Here is a site that I quickly republished using WordPress. It only took me 3-4 hours to ditch that html for dynamic content. Now the owner can publish using a password protected back end and a web browser.
Another Client Apollo Property Management had their site re-created in WordPress in about two hours. Now managers in multiple locations can add content to the site without having to purchase addition web authoring software. Talk about a return on investment.
My good friend Pete Scheira and I started a Click & Mortar snowboard store. Our plan was to sell only on-line but the opportunity came up to buy a local shop that was going out of business. The local response has been overwhelming! The local’s love our steez!
I’ve been developing this for some time now. I’ve integrated our website, POS (point of sale cash register), back office computer and shipping operation. Now the challenge is inventory, accounting, ads, and excellent customer service. As hard as all that might sound, I’d call it a dream job!
Created for Peek’n Peak Resort and Spa, this little piece started out as just a trail map but I versioned it out three more times for our 36 holes of golf and miniature golf courses. The idea was to have a trail map that could be updated with images and content. Live webcams were feeded into it using iFrames. Terrain Park features could be added and moved around as they changed on the hill. Tips from the Pros could be added over time to the hole descriptions.

So a good portion of my time gets waisted looking for answers. User forums or “Bulletin Boards” are a good place to find answers to many questions. I found new and old friends on TGR’s skiing forum so I decided to start a couple of forums for our local ski areas here in Western NY. I used Vbulletin software for these. Both stared as PHPBB but I found that software lacking from what I liked on TGR. The Gallery integration came from Photopost. Both splash pages were made from a third piece of software called Content Management Portal System or CMPS

So while working for Bush Industries back in 2005, I created an Office room designer with the help of a Flash developer called Animated Vision. As the Director of Multimedia I had to coordinate all the assets needed to create such a piece. Working with engineers, 3D models were converted for Flash and “rules” had to be sorted out for each and every piece of furniture. We made everything modular so the space planer could be verisoned out for various resellers like Staples and Office Depot.
